Egston SFP Link

This section provides basic information regarding accessing and communication between Typhoon HIL device and EGSTON COMPISO Amplifier System.

Component Not Supported: This component is not currently supported in TyphoonSim. Adding this component to your model will prevent you from being able to run your model in TyphoonSim. Please disable or remove this component from your model before attempting to run your model in TyphoonSim mode.

This component transmits and receives data over the SFP port (on HIL101, HIL404, HIL506 and HIL606 devices - HW setup) using Egston SFP Link protocol and provides the link status. The output port of the Egston SFP Link component provides the Egston SFP Link physical status where one (1) means that the link is up.

Important: Egston SFP Link and SFP Simulation Link are mutually exclusive on HIL101/HIL404 devices as they use the same SFP port!

Typhoon HIL Implementation

Currently, Egston SFP Link is supported by the following devices: HIL101, HIL404, HIL506, and HIL606 (via custom firmware configuration only). When using a HIL101/HIL404 device with an Egston SFP Link channel present, the channel will be tied to the upper SFP port on the HIL101/HIL404. When using a HIL506/HIL606 device, SFP port allocation depends on the device configuration as described in Table 1.

Egston SFP Link

  • SFP port
  • HIL is master
  • CSU type
  • Operation mode
  • Send channel signal
  • Execution rate

Component properties are described in Table 3.

Table 3. Egston SFP Link properties
Property name Description
SFP port Selects the SFP port through which communication is established.
HIL is master Specifies if the HIL device is master or slave.
CSU type Defines the CSU type - either a group of 4 (GAMP4) or 6 (GAMP6) amplifiers.
Operation mode Specifies the desired operation mode, which is defined by the CSU/GAMP type, the Application type and the source type.
Send channel signal These properties allow you to select signals from the model which you want to send to the Egston device. A selection of 4 or 6 channels will be available depending on the chosen CSU type.

Ports

  • Input (sfp_reset_n)
    • Negative reset. Value which resets Egston SFP communication.
      • Supported types: uint, int, real.
      • Vector support: no.
  • Input (pwm_enable)
    • Value which enables or disables Egston component send channels.
      • Supported types: uint, int, real.
      • Vector support: no.
  • Output (link_status)
    • Output of the component is the physical link status.
      • Supported types: uint, int, real.
      • Vector support: no

Virtual HIL support

Virtual HIL currently does not support this protocol. When using a non-real-time environment (e.g. when running the model on a local computer), inputs to this component will be discarded and outputs from this component will be zeroed.
