In the fourth and final episode of our Industry Spotlight with H55, we had a chance to talk with professor Philippe Barrade, head of the Industrial Electronics and Drives research group at HES-SO, The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland.

His research group collaborated closely with H55 and Typhoon HIL on the development of a flight simulator that can be used for educating future pilots or technicians. Professor Barrade highlighted how important his industry-academia collaborations are in providing technology transfer from universities to the companies involved. By teaching his students on industry-grade equipment, he makes sure they gain relevant skills that will make them employable on the job market.

About H55 | André Borschberg is an entrepreneur who, together with his team of engineers, conceived a solar airplane with unlimited endurance. Alternating with Bertrand Piccard in the cockpit, they successfully completed the first circumnavigation of the globe without a drop of fuel and set a world record as the first to fly non-stop for 5 days and 5 nights over The Pacific Ocean.
