Hi, I'm a bit stuck and hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a simple microgrid running on a HIL 402: a Grid, a PV Power Plant (Generic), a Battery ESS (Generic) and one Variable Load (Generic), all on a common bus. I'm setting the load's Pref from a SCADA slider and measuring its power.

The issue is that the load just won't draw power. When I set Pref to 1.0 p.u. (which I'd expect to be full nominal), the load only shows about 0.01 kW, even though its nominal active power is 10 kW. The per-unit reference seems fine now since it's not saturating anymore, but nothing actually flows into the load. Meanwhile Grid and PV both read around 14 kW, so the sources are clearly working — the power just isn't reaching the load.

I've already sent Pref in per-unit, closed all the contactors in the panel init (including the load's, 'Variable Load (Generic)1.Grid Converter1.Contactor.S1'), and set the load Enable to 1.

So I'm wondering what I'm missing. Is there something else the Variable Load needs to actually start drawing power — some converter enable, a Qref, a connect signal, or a particular order I should follow? And is there a way to confirm the contactor is really closed during the simulation?

Thanks a lot for any help.
